| After
two weeks here, two weeks of not writing anything, I don't have
any clear insights. Do you know this very worn out phrase: "information
is power"?
let me wonder about it. I see people fighting, children die, leaders
recruit and journalists celebrate. Most of them without a clue.
They all shout, believing strongly in someone else's words. I hear
it every evening on the news. They say: "stop shooting at us" and
what does the other side replie? " YOU stop shooting at us!". sometimes
you think it can go on for ever or until everyone is dead. some
call it a vicious circle, some call it kinder garden. what I see
is information problem. Does anyone know exactly what was agreed
to in Oslo? in Camp David? How many settlements are there? what
is a settlement? where are the '67 borders exactly? What do the
Palestinians want? what do the Israeli Arabs want? Israeli Jews?
What did Israel promise? Which promises did it keep? what are the
opening-fire instructions?
probably very few people, yet all the others are still in the game.
Very much in it and with a lot of power as well. So why is information
power? maybe the lack of it is more power?
I've started gathering information. Maps, statistics, populations,
numbers…
so far I've discovered that even where I grew up, where I'm writing
these lines now is also 'occupied territory'. I also discovered
advanced stages in the peace talks, which were broken because of
initiated firing and demonstrations. I'm still collecting info.
when I have enough I'll start publishing. See what it does
to the power.
Meanwhile life goes on, still feels chilling sitting on a bus.
