This week I had an interesting job. there's a neighborhood in Jerusalem, Gilo, being shot at from the Palestinian village next to it, Beit Jalla. The municipality put concrete walls in some areas around the neighborhood to protect the inhabitants, mainly in front of schools and kindergartens. to make it look a bit less ugly they decided to paint on these walls the view behind them. Realistic paintings of the trees, stones and of course - Beit Jalla. So, where did I come in? I took the photos of this view to be used by the painters.
Strange feeling standing there, with my back to the walls, facing Beit Jalla, thinking of snipers. More strange looking at this peaceful looking village on a wonderful sunny day, trying to imagine it like the battle field I see every night on TV. Even more strange seeing this young soldier, sitting on the bench with his girlfriend that came all the way from Haifa to visit him, kissing, enjoying autumn sun, while four Arab workers behind them, maybe even from Beit Jalla, in an impossible "coexistence", building a house in the 'Anafa' street, the same street being shot at every night.

In my search for further information I had an interesting long talk today with Mikado, the man who founded the "Alternative Information Center". He offered a comprehensive and simple plan for peace. Something like withdrawing from the occupied territories, stop enlarging settlements and facing the refugee problem with acknowledging Israel's responsibility for the situation.
Yesterday there was a big right wing demonstration. They also offered a very clear solution. Their moto was: "let the army WIN !!", which means entering Gaza with tanks, conquering the whole thing (again) and "put an end to all this shit".

Here's some "varied" sources of information.
enjoy.
