| There's a saying, in Hebrew and a similar one in Arabic,
a neighbor is closer than a relative (close = relative, in Hebrew).
It is also common that artists, intellectuals, human (or animal)
rights activists are tolerant, more sensitive people. It is not
likely that a person declaring himself a socialist, involved in
human rights organizations, left wing, fighting occupation, humiliation,
corruption, abuse, any kind of violence towards any kind of being,
etc, etc.. would be a person who would tell his neighbor "fuck you"
when complaining about noise at 03:00 am, or would never stop his
car for hitch-hikers or even someone with a flat tire?
I know, it is not likely but who gives a..?
It looks good to fight for hungry children in Ethiopia, raise hell
over the poor little mice being tortured by evil scientists, hunger
striking over the cutting of the rain forest but why should I give
money to this dirty homeless? get a job!
hearing this super socialist warrior, the man behind a big variety
of human and social rights actions, demonstrations and organizations,
who young rebels look up to with unhidden admiration, bragging (with
a modest pose however) how he managed to secretly show a movie of
a young film maker without paying him, after not being able to get
it for free, (never the less charging money from the audience who
came to see the movie), I can't help thinking about double morality,
or the bad taste Puritanism leaves in your mouth.
But, it's ok, really, copy rights are something else, and artists
should be happy to be given a chance to expose.
Say thanks (or even better: "you should be paying me")!! |
