Two days ago I received an email titled "curraption" (I'm aware of the spelling problems) from a person called Lil, which I don't believe I know. The message said:
"tal adler u r using other peoples images for your 'items' without asking . u r a politikay. be big. dont fuck up."
Of course I replied immediately, saying I've never done that. Later I began to wonder, did Lil mean photographs BY other people or OF other people? All the photo's in the items are mine, but maybe a person in the crowd from item #006, or the tank driver in the previous item, one of the activists digging in item #030, or maybe even the son of the terrorist from item #043 saw these items and didn't like the fact of his picture being there? Should I only take photo's of objects from now on? Or ask permission in advance from all the faces caught in the frame every time I click?
Anyway I was very happy to receive this email, it was one of the first anonymous responses I have received to the items in a long time. Lately there's more exposure to them and I'm grateful for that. I even thought using this exposure and send a request, since it is May 1st, workers day, and all I can do today is sit at home thinking of the job I don't have, feeling miserably unemployed (not that I lack occupation, I need the money..!). Maybe some or one of you kind strangers have a job for me ?
